Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has heaped praise on one Newcastle United player following the Magpies’ 0-0 draw with AC Milan.
Newcastle got a point from their opening Champions League game, holding AC Milan to a goalless draw at the San Siro.
It is a brilliant point on the road for Eddie Howe’s side, who really had to dig in to avoid defeat against the Serie A giants.
The Magpies were poor in attack, but defended brilliantly on Tuesday night. They were committed and resolute, while Sean Longstaff was outstanding in the middle of the park.
Kieran Trippier was also exceptional against AC Milan, as the £12million man celebrated his 33rd birthday.

After the game, the Newcastle captain took to his official Instagram account to offer his reaction.
He wrote: “Couldn’t be prouder of this group of players in our first Champions League game. This may be a very valuable away point. Thank you for your incredible support everyone.”
Trippier’s message prompted multiple replies. Alan Shearer praised the defender, telling him he was ‘brilliant’ at the San Siro.
There was also a reply from Trippier’s England teammate Declan Rice, who was really impressed with the Toon defender.
Rice commented: “Unreal brother.”

Trippier was ‘unreal’ against AC Milan
Trippier really was unreal, producing a captains performance up against elite opposition. The 33-year-old was one of Newcastle’s best players, despite being up against the skilful Rafael Leao.
The Newcastle skipper played brilliantly, producing the type of level-headed performance you would expect from a player with his experience. He has played in big occasions like this before, and it showed.
Trippier was not fazed at all, and deserves all of the praise coming his way.
Even at 33, he is capable of top level performances like that. He was our player of the season last time out, and will be up there again come May 2024 if he continues to play like he did at the San Siro.
Rice was really impressed with Trippier, and will have been taking notes ahead of his Champions League debut on Wednesday night. Arsenal are set to face PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates.
