Saturday proved a very good day for Newcastle United.

Though they didn’t have it all their own away against Wolves, Eddie Howe’s side recorded their first win at St James’ Park since December with a 3-0 victory.

While the inconsistent manner of this season makes it difficult to definitively say Newcastle have turned a corner, it ended a good week for the club.

Into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and up to eighth in the Premier League, it has been a welcome return to form for Howe’s side after the drubbing at Arsenal last weekend.

It was also a notable afternoon for Tino Livramento, who scored his first goal for the club to wrap up the three points.

Tino Livramento: Eddie Howe thrilled with “incredible athlete”

Indeed, speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Howe said of the former Southampton defender: “He’s an incredible athlete.

“He’s done very well for us whenever he’s played this season. Very late in the game he showed his legs, I thought it was a great goal.”

Tino Livramento: Newcastle star could be set for a run in the first-team

There have been calls to include Livramento in the first-team far more often this season, having hit the ground running since his £32m move to the club.

Largely, it has been at the expense of left-back Dan Burn, with the England U21 international having impressed in that position thus far.

However, with Kieran Trippier forced off in the second-half, perhaps Livramento could soon be afforded more of a run in his more natural role as a right-back.

While Trippier at his best will take some replacing, there is little doubt the England international has struggled at times this season. Perhaps a rest would do him some good, after all.

With Livramento doing the business, both he and Trippier could benefit from something of a rotation policy.

Of all of Newcastle’s summer signings, Livramento has surely proven the best thus far. Now, he could be set for a chance to truly establish himself.
