Former Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has sent the Magpies a heart-warming message on Twitter after their defeat in the Carabao cup final.
Despite their best efforts, the Toon were beaten by six minutes worth of Manchester United attack.

Goals from Casemiro and a deflection from Marcus Rashford put the Red Devils 2-0 up at half-time, making the task extremely difficult for Eddie Howe’s side to bounce back from.
Taking to Twitter after the game, Benitez shared a message of encouragement to the north-east club, claiming it is only just the beginning on their road to success.
Benitez sends Newcastle message after defeat
As a fan-favourite on Tyneside, this message will be very well received at St James’ Park.
In March 2016, with just ten games remaining of the Premier League season, Benitez took the job at Newcastle following the sacking of Steve McClaren.
With the side 19th in the table, it was too little too late for the Magpies – and they were relegated to the Championship.
Instead of leaving, the Spaniard admirably decided to remain with the club and fight for promotion.
Newcastle were able to immediately bounce back, winning the Championship title at their first opportunity.

Benitez then went on to lead the team to tenth and 13th place finishes respectively, despite huge issues behind the scenes with the club’s hierarchy.
As a result, the 62-year-old has cemented himself as a hero on Tyneside.
This will be the same for Eddie Howe too, having led the Toon through an incredible season thus far – with an exciting future on the horizon.
