Pundit Paul Merson has predicted the result of Newcastle’s trip to Crystal Palace for Sportskeeda.
Steve Bruce has left the club and Graham Jones will be in caretaker charge at Selhurst Park.
Newcastle are looking for a first win of the season in any competition – and Merson thinks the wait will go on.

Merson’s prediction
“I like the way Crystal Palace are playing under Patrick Vieira, he’s got them playing on the front foot.
“They’ve been incredibly unlucky with a few last-gasp equalizers, but overall, I think they’ve performed well in the Premier League after a slow start.
“Despite the positive news about Newcastle United’s takeover, you have to admit that they are in major trouble.
“They could be in a relegation battle and their fixture list doesn’t look too kind, so these are worrying times for them.
“Steve Bruce is gone and they are yet to announce his replacement, so I fancy Palace to take advantage of the situation and secure three points in this one. Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Newcastle United.”

Merson has predicted the exact same outcome from this game as his fellow pundit Mark Lawrenson.
Newcastle will be hoping for a bounce from replacing Bruce with Jones, who prefers a more attacking style of football.
Palace have been good so far this season, and were desperately close to beating Arsenal on their own patch on Monday.
But Newcastle need to get this new era kickstarted and this is a winnable game.
