Pundit Paul Merson has predicted the result of Newcastle’s clash with Aston Villa at St James’ Park for Sportskeeda.
Eddie Howe will be looking for a third straight victory to build on the momentum generated by wins over Leeds and Everton.
This is another big game against another historic club and Merson thinks that Newcastle will get a result; but just a point rather than three.

Merson’s prediction
“If it wasn’t for Allan Saint-Maximin, Newcastle weren’t winning their game against Everton. He was outstanding on the day, and they’re going to go on the attack here.
“If Newcastle win this game, they’d be taking a massive step towards getting out of trouble. I think they need to get their points now and make hay while the sun shines.
“Both teams have a go in their Premier League games, and neither team is defensively very good. We saw that with Aston Villa the other night. I think there’ll be a lot of goals in this match.
“Prediction: Newcastle United 2-2 Aston Villa.”

A draw here would keep Newcastle’s unbeaten run going and keep the pressure on the sides in and around them in the relegation dogfight.
Another win is achievable and would have the crowd rocking, and Steven Gerrard’s side will probably give up chances with the way they are playing.
They are threatening in attack though, but this could be Bruno Guimaraes’ first Premier League start, which would be exciting for everyone with a black and white persuasion.
