Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has almost a fully fit squad from which to choose ahead of Monday’s huge Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Indeed, Newcastle host Liverpool at St James’ Park in what promises to be a thrilling spectacle as the Premier League weekend comes to a close.
After a bruising summer, Newcastle made a reasonably positive start last week when they drew 0-0 with Aston Villa. The obvious caveat to that, however, is that they may well have won if Alexander Isak was playing.
Isak will not play for Newcastle against Liverpool on Monday as he continues to try and force a move to the Anfield giants.
Liverpool are interested in Isak and have already signed former Newcastle transfer target in Hugo Ekitike.
Still, there are reasons to be positive for Newcastle, so here’s a look at the confirmed team news, injury latest and our predicted lineup for the game.
Newcastle United confirmed team news vs Liverpool
Howe has confirmed that Isak will not be involved. As such, Anthony Gordon looks almost certain to start up front.
The Newcastle United manager, however, has almost everybody else fit. Jacob Ramsey could make his debut after joining from Aston Villa, while there has been nothing to suggest that Jacob Murphy is still suffering from the Achilles issue that impacted him in the build-up to the Villa game.
In terms of injuries, Joe Willock was the only genuine problem heading into the season but Howe has confirmed the midfielder has returned to training. Willock remains a doubt, however.

It would be a major shock to see any changes to the team who drew with Villa.
Howe has talked up the partnership of Fabian Schar and Dan Burn, so Malick Thiaw will likely have to wait a bit longer for his debut.
