Newcastle United supporters certainly enjoyed themselves on Monday evening.
While Old Trafford has not been a happy place for Newcastle fans to visit over the years, Eddie Howe’s side recorded their first Premier League win there since 2013 with what was an easy 2-0 victory.
Alexander Isak and Joelinton scored early goals at the Theatre of Dreams and, frankly, the hosts were lucky Howe’s side dropped their intensity levels.
Had this fixture not come during what is surely the busiest part of the season, Newcastle really could have inflicted yet more misery on Ruben Amorim’s side.
It was another statement performance from Newcastle, no matter how bad the hosts were.
Howe’s side have now won five games in a row across all competitions and reclaimed fifth spot in the Premier League table.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 4 | 19 | 10 | 5 | 4 | 38 | 23 | 15 | 35 | |
| 5 | 19 | 9 | 5 | 5 | 32 | 21 | 11 | 32 | |
| 6 | 19 | 9 | 4 | 6 | 32 | 26 | 6 | 31 |
The top five in the Premier League this season could all qualify for next year’s Champions League, so things are looking very positive indeed for Newcastle fans.
Naturally, they were in fine voice at Old Trafford and even managed to get in a dig at Sunderland.
What Newcastle fans chanted at Manchester United supporters on Monday night

As per Simon Stone of the BBC (via social media platform X), Newcastle fans were chanting “Say hello to Sunderland” at the opposition fans, in reference to the Manchester giants potentially going down this season.
While that surely still remains unthinkable despite their poor form, Amorim did admit after the game that a battle for survival was a possibility.
Newcastle players took pity on Manchester United during the game
Such was the vast gulf in quality between the sides on Monday night, it seems some of the Newcastle players actually felt sorry for their opponents.
Anthony Gordon, meanwhile, patted Joshua Zirkzee on the back when he was hauled off in the first-half to sarcastic cheers from the Old Trafford faithful.
That was undoubtedly pretty brutal for the Dutchman, so it was nice to see Gordon offer at least some sympathy.
