Nick Woltemade enjoyed the perfect start to life as a Newcastle United player with a debut goal in a win against Wolves.
Finally, the Magpies have their first win on the board, and there could only be one goalscorer on the day.
Nick Woltemade found the back of the net with a sensational header into the top corner, the only goal in Newcastle United’s win against Wolves.
Hopefully, this is the first of many for the German, who linked up beautifully with Eddie Howe’s midfielders throughout the game.
Woltemade came off after just over an hour on the pitch, but he had left his mark at St James’ Park, and received a standing ovation from the 52,000 in attendance. With Woltemade’s debut in the books, Newcastle fans have given their verdict on his performance.

Debuts do not get much better than that, do they? Scoring the winning goal in front of a home crowd, they adore him now, but they will see him as a hero on Tyneside if he carries on scoring goals like that.
Woltemade even got the attention of Alan Shearer, who was impressed with his header and Jacob Murphy’s cross into the box for him.
It appears that Newcastle fans are all thinking the same thing after his goal; they made their feelings clear about the German on X.
“I’ve seen enough. Woltemade is the best striker on planet earth,” said one fan, while another added: “Woltemade > Isak.”
This fan highlighted his overall performance, saying: “He’s been absolutely outstanding.”
“I love him already. If he bulks up, he will look like Zlatan Regen,” said this convinced Newcastle fan.
Another fan added: “And he can’t head a ball apparently!”
Finally, this fan said: “Cannot tell you how happy I am to see this lad score today!!! Brilliant goal and will do him the world of good.”

Woltemade’s goal was just the icing on top of the cake for what will go down as a fairly underrated performance. Several players were at the top of their game against Wolves, so the scoreline does not remotely reflect the hard work which was put in by those players.
Newcastle were crying out for a striker who could score goals, and they appear to have found one in Woltemade. Had he been a part of the squad at the start of the season, who knows what Newcastle could have been in the Premier League table?
