Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has admitted that he thinks his new chant that Toon fans are singing is ‘quite catchy’.
Videos of the song have been doing the rounds on social media in recent weeks, while it also got an airing at Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup at the weekend.
But it got its proper debut on Tuesday night, as Burn scored his first goal for his boyhood club to help Newcastle into the semi final of the Carabao Cup.
Despite dominating and creating plenty of chances, the Magpies were struggling to make the breakthrough. Then the opener was scored from an unlikely source.
Burn charged into the box after a pass from Joelinton, and managed to find the back of the net with his weaker right foot. St James’ Park burst with noise as the deadlock was broken, with the local lad making the Wembley dream even more possible.

After the goal, St James’ Park sang in unison: “He’s from Blyth, you’ll never ever beat Dan Burn, he’s from Blyth…”
On and on it went. Burn certainly is from Blyth, and you absolutely will never beat him.
The chant is to the tune of Force And Styles’ 1997 song Pretty Green Eyes, which was then made famous by Ultrabeat in 2003.
Dan Burn is a fan of his new chant
After the game, Burn spoke to NUFC TV. He was asked about hearing his new chant emerge from the Gallowgate.
“I think any player loves hearing their name being chanted,” he said.
“I didn’t think it was going to catch on, but it’s quite catchy to be fair – I like it.”
The chant certainly has caught on, and it could be heard from every corner as fans exited St James’ Park, safe in the knowledge that their side is in the semi final of the Carabao Cup.
It was an incredible night for Newcastle, and an incredible night for Burn. To score your first goal for your boyhood club must be special. But to do it in front of the Gallowgate in a cup quarter final must be out of this world.
The 30-year-old lived out his childhood dream last night, and now his new song will likely be heard each and every week when the Magpies are in action.
It certainly is catchy, and a lot better than his previous chant of ‘Dan Burn, he’s one of our own’…
