Newcastle made it six Premier League games unbeaten with a 1-1 draw against Champions League chasers West Ham.
They actually could have nicked a win on the balance of play, with goalscorer Joe Willock and his fellow midfielder Joelinton especially impressive.

After the game, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben took to Twitter to react to the result and the performance which leaves Newcastle five points clear of safety.
It is clear they were both impressed with the battling performance of Eddie Howe’s side, achieved without the injured duo of Allan Saint-Maximin and Kieran Trippier.
It was disappointing for Newcastle to slip behind to a Craig Dawson header from a set piece at a time when they were the dominant side.
Emil Krafth’s foul on Michail Antonio gave the free kick away and it was needless, and handed the Hammers an opportunity in a dangerous area.
David Moyes’ men are so good on set pieces that it was no surprise they took advantage.
That was a test of Newcastle’s character but they did not fold, they kept on playing their football and Willock’s poked equaliser was a deserved reward for that.
The Magpies did not cower in the second half and there were some impressive defensive performances which laid the foundation for this point.
Perhaps Newcastle could have created a couple more chances to win it but a draw is a decent result here and puts the pressure on their relegation rivals.
Warren Barton also reacted to the draw on the road with some more deserved praise for the performance which is something to be further built on.
