Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta were reunited on Sunday as Newcastle United drew 2-2 with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

A late Mohammed Kudus goal gave the Hammers a deserved point, after an Alexander Isak brace had turned the game on its head early in the second half.

In the end, a draw was a fair result. Both teams will be happy with their efforts, but will also know that they had opportunities to win.

That chance for Newcastle fell to Isak, but he missed the opportunity to put the Magpies 3-1 up when his effort cannoned off the post.

Elsewhere, West Ham will feel let down by the officials as a couple of big decisions went against them. Firstly, Bruno avoided red when Peter Bankes passed up the chance to give him a second yellow card. Secondly, the free-kick that led to Newcastle’s equaliser was incredibly soft and probably shouldn’t have been given.

Overall, a draw was a fair result, meaning there was no bragging rights for Bruno or Paqueta, who exchanged messages on social media after the game.

Following the 2-2 draw at the London Stadium, Bruno took to his official Instagram account to send a message to Newcastle fans.

He wrote: “It’s been wonderful weeks since we came back from the last international stop! Now it’s focussing on the national team and coming back to our team in the same way! Howay the Lads.”

Bruno’s message prompted a reply from Paqueta, who wrote back: “Vlw my homie, play hard. I love you. I’m rooting for you.”

Brazilian stars impress during 2-2 draw

As Bruno says, Newcastle have been spectacular since the last international break. We have got our season back on track after a tough start, and go into the October break in a much better position.

The draw against West Ham was a good result. They have also enjoyed a strong start to the season, and David Moyes boasts some excellent players.

One of those is Paqueta, who played very well against Newcastle. He played a key role in West Ham’s first goal, and showed his skill and class throughout.

His countryman Bruno was also brilliant, and really turned on the style in the second half.

The Brazilian boys dazzled spectators on Sunday – it’s just a shame they aren’t both in black and white…
