Newcastle United have put another point on the board following a 2-2 draw with West Ham United, in a match that Alan Shearer absolutely loved.
It was a cliched game of two halves at the London Stadium, as Newcastle rallied in the second half after a poor opening 45 minutes from Eddie Howe’s players.
An Alexander Isak brace after half time turned the game on its head, and looked like it would give the Magpies a very impressive victory away from home.
However, Mohammed Kudus’ late strike made it 2-2 and ensured that each side went home with a point.
For us, that was a fair result on the balance of play, and it is a view shared by Toon legend Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer thinks 2-2 was ‘fair’ between Newcastle and West Ham
After the game, Shearer took to X (Twitter) to give his verdict on Newcastle drawing 2-2 with West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
He wrote: “Great game. Fair result.”
The former striker summed the 90 minutes up pretty perfectly, having criticised Newcastle for their performance in the first half.
At half time, he had wrote on Twitter: “West Ham first to every ball in that first half. Newcastle massive improvement needed 2nd half.”
A good response from Newcastle in the second half
There certainly was a massive improvement from Newcastle, but West Ham applied enough pressure in the latter stages to grab an equaliser.
It is a real shame to concede so late, especially given how good we have been defensively as of late, but David Moyes’ side were more than worthy of a point.
In truth, the Hammers will be bemoaning the fact that it is not three. They took the lead thanks to Tomas Soucek, and will believe that Newcastle should have gone down to 10 men shortly afterwards.

Bruno Guimaraes was lucky not to receive a second yellow card midway through the first half for a foul on James Ward-Prowse, having already been booked for a cynical trip on Emerson Palmieri.
But the officials were in Newcastle’s favour on Sunday, much to the relief of Bruno, who signed a new contract with the club just 24 hours earlier.
He was not able to celebrate the new deal with three points, but a draw is better than nothing against a strong West Ham team.
It was a great game of football at the London Stadium, and means Newcastle head into the international break unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions.
