Liverpool’s newest academy product, Stefan Bajcetic, has spoken to the club’s official site about the upcoming clash with Newcastle, talking about the fans and the atmosphere at St James’ Park.
The young Spanish midfielder is enjoying life at Liverpool having broken into the first team this season after graduating from the Liverpool academy where he played predominantly as a central defender.
Bajcetic’s confidence will be high
Bajcetic was an unused substitute when the sides met at Anfield earlier in the season when Liverpool condemned Newcastle to what remains their only league defeat of the season, but after a run of impressive performances and a Player of the Month award under his belt, he will be confident of being more involved at St James’ Park.
It will, of course, be his first appearance at St James’ Park and speaking on the prospect of an exciting atmosphere under the lights, he said: “Yeah, definitely. Their fans are very good, I never played there, but that’s what people say.”
Eddie Howe’s boys will be looking to harness that infamous atmosphere to help them to ensure that their unbeaten home record remains intact, especially given that the last visiting team to leave St James’ Park with three points was Liverpool last season.
“It’s going to be tough”
That’s a task that Bajcetic feels may be beyond the Magpies: “We know it’s going to be tough in St. James’ Park, but obviously we are Liverpool, so our aim is to win all the games.”
The youngster may have had a good start to life in the Premier League but he faces the mighty Joelinton on Saturday whose energy and work-rate will give him a tough test and will hopefully prove to be too much for Bajcetic to handle.
