Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has hailed two players after the Magpies’ 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Sunday.
Eddie Howe could only get a point from his trip to the London Stadium, despite leading up until the 89th minute. It looked like Alexander Isak had won it for Newcastle with his brace, only for Mohammed Kudus to net a late equaliser.
On the balance of play, a draw was a fair result. Both sides excelled at times and will be happy with a point.
Newcastle started really slowly against West Ham, but were much better in the second half. Isak scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season within five minutes of each other to turn the game on its head, as he continues his impressive start to the campaign.
And another player who is in exceptional form is Kieran Trippier.

That is the view of Alan Shearer, who has spoke about Trippier and Isak on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast.
“You’d have to say Isak and Kieran Trippier,” he said, when asked who Newcastle’s standout players were against West Ham.
“Some of the balls he was putting into the box were just unbelievable. What a signing he has been for Newcastle, he’s in great form.”

He recently turned 33, and Trippier is proving that age is just a number.
His assist for Isak on Sunday was out of this world, playing a first time pass on the volley to give the club record signing a tap-in. It summed up how technically exceptional he is, and showed just how confident he is too. Most players would have controlled it, but Trippier had belief in his ability that he only needed one touch.
Trippier has every right to be confident. He has got six assists in his last four games, whilst also helping the Magpies keep five clean sheets in seven games since the last international break.
It has been a joy to watch Trippier in recent weeks, as he continues to prove what a bargain he was at £12million.
