Joe Willock delivers message to Bruno Guimaraes after beating Leicester

Newcastle United beat Leicester 3-0 on Boxing Day, with Bruno Guimaraes putting in a wonderful performance vs the Foxes.

The Brazilian started in midfield for Eddie Howe’s side, having made his return after the World Cup during the week in the Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth.

That was clearly just a warmup for Newcastle, who were scintillatingly good against Leicester. The Foxes were helpless, unable to stop a rampant Toon side that moved up to third in the Premier League.

The World Cup break is clearly not going to stop Newcastle’s momentum, while a disappointing tournament in Qatar is not going to ruin the brilliant season that Bruno is having in black and white.

The 25-year-old was the best player on the pitch at the King Power Stadium, and was given the Premier League Player of the Match award for his efforts.

After the game, Bruno posed for a picture with his trophy and uploaded it to his official Instagram account.

He added the caption: “I think all these guys deserved this trophy! Thanks for making me happy and feel at home boys! I’m proud to be part of this unbelievable group.”

Bruno’s post received multiple responses, with the likes of Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock replying to the midfielder.

Almiron wrote ‘magico’, while Willock added ‘unbelievable’.

Bruno really was unbelievable versus Leicester, and he has now enjoyed two brilliant games up against the Foxes.

The first came earlier in the year when he netted a brace at home, including a last-second winner that blew the roof off of St James’ Park.

His performance on Boxing Day was much less dramatic, but equally as impressive. He dominated the midfield battle, and showcased the confidence that he had before the Premier League was put on hold for the World Cup. There was plenty of tricks and flicks from the Brazilian, as well as an incredible celebration after a tackle.

Bruno got an assist too, linking up brilliantly with Almiron to give the Paraguayan his ninth goal of the season.

It was a wonderful team performance against Leicester. As Bruno says, the POTM award could have gone to any of his teammates. But he was a worthy recipient, and truly was ‘unbelievable’ in the words of Willock.
