Jacob Murphy sends hilarious four-word message to Fabian Schar after his goal vs PSG

Fabian Schar scored Newcastle United’s fourth and best goal against PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The centre-back relieved the pressure in stoppage time with an outrageous strike, just as PSG were beginning to turn the screw and force a way back into the Champions League tie.

But Schar ensured that the three points belonged to Newcastle. He showed great energy to press high and win back possession before lending it to Jacob Murphy.

The 28-year-old then gave him it back, as Schar curled a wonderous effort beyond a helpless Gianluigi Donnarumma to make it 4-1 on a famous night inside St James’ Park.

Not even a slip could spoil Schar’s moment, as his shot bent perfectly into the net.

It was a shock to see him so high up the pitch so late in the game. When it went in, everyone around me thought it was Bruno Guimaraes. But it was Schar, one of the many players who Eddie Howe has rejuvenated since getting the job at St James’ Park.

Fabian Schar celebrates incredible goal against PSG in the Champions League

It was a magical strike from the Swiss defender, who has received a hilarious message from Murphy after the game on Instagram.

Schar shared a picture of him celebrating his goal on Instagram with the caption: “No words for that night!!”

But Murphy certainly had four words for him.

He replied: “What a tap in.”

If that’s a tap in, it is the best one I have ever seen in my life! It was an absolutely incredible goal from Newcastle, by a man whose trademark is long range strikes just like that.

While he has scored better goals, this was Schar’s most significant. To do that in stoppage time in the Champions League to make it 4-1 against PSG is the stuff of legend.

Obviously Murphy is just having a bit of banter with Schar. He knows exactly how good a strike it was, as he had a perfect view.

The most surprising thing is Murphy not taking all the credit for that beautiful assist!
