Newcastle United have another three points in the bag, and it’s all down to one very important player who Eddie Howe would be lost without.
A rare Joelinton goal got Newcastle off to a flying start within two minutes against Burnley, before Yoane Wissa doubled the Magpies’ lead shortly after.
Who was your MOTM against Burnley?!
Feel free to name your worst player too 😂
With the Clarets pulling one back in the second half, the pressure was on Eddie Howe’s men, but a superb Bruno Guimaraes wonder goal sealed all three points.
And, it’s the Newcastle captain who has drawn praise from all corners after his influence on the game at Turf Moor.

Bruno Guimaraes hailed for performance vs Burnley
Taking to Twitter/X after the game, reporter Andy Sixsmith lavished praise on Bruno Guimaraes for his role in the win.
He wrote: “How often does the skipper deliver for Newcastle United? Time and time again, Bruno steps up with vital goals – and on a night where Newcastle have struggled, he’s done so again.
“So instrumental to this club. Such a good player. Such a captain.”
To be fair, we didn’t give Bruno the highest score in our Newcastle player ratings vs Burnley, but there is no denying just how important the Brazilian is to this team. When he plays well, he’s capable of dragging the Magpies through a game on his own.

How many points will Newcastle get here?
Surely anything less than 12 points would be unacceptable… 👀
The stats behind Bruno Guimaraes display
Obviously, Bruno shouldn’t have to carry the team like that. Indeed, the likes of Sandro Tonali need to step up and do more to support the captain’s efforts.
It was a stunning performance from Bruno on the night, though, and the stats from Sofascore back this up.
In terms of passing, Bruno registered a 90% success rate across 41 attempted passes. That includes three key passes and two big chances created.
He also had three shots, including one big chance of his own that he missed. Going in the other direction, Bruno was instrumental in the midfield battle. He made eight defensive contributions, including winning three tackles, making one interception, and winning a massive seven ground duels.
