Newcastle United restored some confidence on Saturday.
Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side ran out 4-0 winners over Leicester in the Premier League to raise morale ahead of Wednesday’s huge showdown with Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle will have tougher tests to come than the Foxes but it did lift the mood following a particularly bruising week.

The Newcastle United manager, after all, questioned his players following the defeat at Brentford last weekend and then lost both Nick Pope and Callum Wilson to reasonably long-term injuries.
Clearly, the inconsistent nature of the season makes it difficult to confidently back Newcastle to go on a run but it was promising to see them respond in positive fashion.

After Brentford, they head down to Ipswich in what looks another winnable game.
Newcastle’s record on the road hasn’t been brilliant for a while now but failure to beat the Tractor Boys would have to be seen as a major disappointment.
Sadly, Newcastle will be without Joelinton for that trip after the Brazilian picked up his fifth yellow card of the season. He will now serve a one-match suspension in the Premier League.
Speaking after the win over Leicester, Howe revealed some interesting details.

Eddie Howe shares update after “bizarre” talks with Joelinton
Talking to The Chronicle, Howe said: “It’s bizarre how things work. I’m talking to him from the side, he’s right in front of me and I’m saying ‘Joey, don’t get booked’, and he’s like ‘don’t worry I won’t’. Two minutes later he gets booked. You just couldn’t make it up.
“In some senses sometimes these things happen. I’m disappointed to lose him because he’s a player we need in every away game but at least he can now play free and play his normal game.”
Newcastle have been dealt a key blow already before playing Ipswich
Not having Joelinton available is a major blow for Howe, albeit Joe Willock’s return to fitness on Saturday offers a timely boost.
The Brazil international is a major figure in the Newcastle team, capable of playing in a number of different positions.
