Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has an impressive recent record against tonight’s opponents Everton.

As per Transfermarkt, Howe has won his last three games against the Toffees, taking in his time at Bournemouth as well.

They have all been by the same scoreline as well – 3-1 – in a strange quirk of fate. That result would certainly suit Newcastle tonight.

Of course, he has already beaten Everton while Frank Lampard was the manager. February’s victory was one of the turning points in the season.

His last meeting with Everton was a bittersweet affair, with Bournemouth winning at Goodison Park on the final day of the campaign but it was not enough to avoid relegation.

In September 2019, Howe also oversaw a convincing triumph over the Toffees, and he will hope to make it four out of four tonight.

Howe is actually a boyhood Everton fan as well.

In May 2016, he told Graham Hunter’s Big Interview podcast: “I didn’t get to Goodison until I was at a late, very late, age. We basically couldn’t (afford it), so that didn’t happen. That was my dream to go to Goodison as a kid, never got there until later in life.

“I was a passionate Everton fan as a kid. I lived near Watford – born in Amersham, raised in Chesham – so I used to watch Watford.

“Watford were playing in the 1984 Cup final, so I turned it on being a Watford fan, and then watched the game and there was just something that said I have to support the blue team.

“It was the kit, the name… and that was it. I was hooked. That inspired my following of them and I followed them ever since.”

Howe has had the knack of beating the club he supports of late and will be hoping it continues tonight.
