Newcastle United have a number of passionate players in their squad.

While the Newcastle United fans were always going to celebrate their historic Carabao Cup win with a huge party, it was amazing to see just how much the players seemed to enjoy themselves too.

Many observers are naturally cynical about the nature of modern football but it was fantastic to watch just how much the Newcastle squad enjoyed ending a trophy drought that started generations before any of them were born.

Alexander Isak put on his best attempt at a Geordie accent, while Joelinton even staged his own Carabao Cup celebration while away in Brazil before the events of the Town Moor party.

Bruno Guimaraes was front and centre of the party there too, infamously launching into a song about Sandro Tonali’s apparent thoughts on rivals Sunderland.

Guimaraes was emotional after Newcastle won the Carabao Cup and it’s that level of passion that impresses former Toon striker Craig Bellamy so much.

Craig Bellamy loves what Bruno Guimaraes does to annoy people at Newcastle

Such is the character of the Brazilian international, the midfielder is known to celebrate winning tackles and challenges – reacting as if he’s scored a goal.

That can annoy rival supporters but Bellamy believes it’s something to be admired, as it underlines just how competitive this Newcastle United team are.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the current Wales manager said: “It can annoy a lot of people.

“I actually get excited by it, when they win a challenge and cheer the crowd and get the crowd up as well. They show their intent, that’s why over the last few years I’ve been a huge fan of this football team.”

Newcastle fans make Bruno Guimaraes feel like the best player in the world

The connection between Guimaraes and the Newcastle United fans is a two-way street.

As much as the 27-year-old looks to love playing for the club, supporters feel exactly the same about him.

Guimaraes said the Newcastle fans make him feel like the best player in the world, such is the level of their adulation.

Celebrating tackles and the like might look a bit strange to anyone outside the Newcastle bubble but that’s not really the point.

The Guimaraes story at Newcastle is about so much more than what he does on the pitch…
