Newcastle United travel to Celtic on Saturday for the first of their pre-season games.
Indeed, Celtic entertain Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly at Parkhead in Glasgow as Eddie Howe runs the rule over his team for the first real time this summer.
It is the first time Newcastle have played the Scottish giants in a friendly match since 2004, although Alan Shearer’s testimonial came against the Bhoys back in 2006.
The Newcastle United manager will no doubt be keen to see his side get off to a winning start this summer.
While results obviously aren’t the most important thing at this stage of the summer preparations, it’s a big game as far as pre-season friendlies go.
With a huge season to come, Howe will be eager to see his stars hit the ground running. Unlike last summer, there has been no senior international tournament complicating matters this time around.
Here’s everything you need to know.

Celtic vs Newcastle United team news
The hosts are likely to be without Cameron Carter-Vickers through injury. All of Alistair Johnston, Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Paulo Bernardo and Luis Palma are yet to return to training.
Stephen Welsh, meanwhile, is an injury doubt.
Anthony Elanga could make his debut for Newcastle against Celtic, after the Sweden international completed a £55million move to the club from Nottingham Forest.

Celtic vs Newcastle United prediction
It would be a surprise to see Newcastle fall to defeat here.
Obviously, it’s difficult to draw any huge conclusions this early into the summer but the fact that most of their big stars are available should help them get off to a winning start.
