Bruno Guimaraes has shared what it was that left him slightly frustrated despite Newcastle United’s 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Bruno put in a man of the match performance as he scored twice to secure the win in a new role, but there was something he still would have loved to do.

The Brazilian has been one yellow card away from a two-game suspension for weeks and in an interview with NUFCTV, he shared how wanted to jump into the crowd to celebrate Newcastle’s winning goal but had to stop himself.

Bruno shows great restraint after Newcastle winner

We all know by now just how passionate and dedicated Bruno is with football and Newcastle and it was very clear to see that after scoring a brilliant goal to win the game all he wanted to do was celebrate with the fans.

The 26-year-old had jumped onto the advertising boards and was centimetres away from falling into that away crowd and receiving his 10th yellow card of the season.

Luckily for him, Bruno did not lose his balance and had the backing of his teammates to hold him up and ensure that he didn’t pick up what would have been a really unfortunate booking.

However, it did leave the midfielder just ever so slightly frustrated as he would have loved to celebrate such a great strike with his biggest supporters who had been chanting his name all evening.

On his celebration, Bruno said: “I wish I could but nine yellow cards is too much in a season so I could not celebrate to give them a big hug but I was close, it was an unbelievable moment for me.”

Newcastle cannot afford suspension to £40m star

He’s done exceptionally well to not pick up this 10th booking in the last four games after it looked inevitable to happen in the immediate future, but it’s not something that will go away any time soon.

With a huge game coming up against Arsenal in two weeks time, Newcastle really can’t afford to have Bruno suspended with Joelinton, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali all still missing from the midfield.

Even after that tie at the Emirates, Bruno will still have that hanging over his head for another six Premier League games before the yellow cards tally is reset.

You do get the feeling that eventually his desire and passion will get the better of the £40m signing, but for now he’s showing great composure to avoid getting himself into the referee’s book once again.
