Newcastle United were at their best on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side proved convincing as they thrashed Tottenham at St James’ Park to move into the Premier League’s top six, although that may only be a temporary position until the rest of the weekend action takes place.

Still, Newcastle were fantastic throughout and even kept a second clean sheet in a row.

Alexander Isak was again the subject of much praise after his fantastic brace in a 4-0 victory over Spurs.

Still, he wasn’t the only man to have impressed.

Isak was at pains to praise Bruno Guimaraes too but Anthony Gordon enjoyed another fine afternoon.

The £40m winger scored once and assisted twice to continue his amazing record against the so-called ‘Big Six’.

Indeed, the England international actually became only the second Premier League player to ever score against all six of the established elite in a single season.

Gordon is ripping things up at the moment and is impressing teammates, both old and new.

Amadou Onana, who has actually been linked with a move to Newcastle, was particularly impressed.

Amadou Onana impressed by Anthony Gordon in Newcastle vs Tottenham

After the game, Gordon took to Instagram to caption some images of him in action: “Special team, specials plays, special players.”

Onana played with Gordon at Everton and wrote: “Player” in response.

Anthony Gordon is Newcastle’s driving force this season

In a season decimated by injuries and absences, Gordon is perhaps one of only three constants throughout Howe’s side.

Gordon, Guimaraes and Fabian Schar have played pretty much every minute available while teammates drop like flies.

Just imagine what the winger could do if Newcastle were performing as well as last season.

This has been a formative campaign for Gordon and the future is very bright for him.

Newcastle are onto a real winner here.
