Newcastle clinched their first Premier League away win of the season with a 1-0 win at Elland Road against Leeds.
Jonjo Shelvey’s goal was enough to scoop all three points and provide what could be a crucial shot in the arm for Newcastle’s season.
Toon legend Alan Shearer took to Twitter to react to the goal going in and again at full-time when the victory was confirmed.
The win means Newcastle are just one point and one place behind 17th placed Norwich, with a game in hand on Dean Smith’s side.
The Canaries got a thumping 3-0 win over Watford last night and it was vitally important that Newcastle responded in kind.
Newcastle had to run hard to cope with Leeds’ high-tempo style and that took its toll with injuries to players including Joelinton.

But the victory should be a huge confidence boost to everyone connected with the club and the clean sheet is also a major plus.
That does not mean that Newcastle do not still need to do business but it sent a message that they are alive and kicking.
The key is harnessing and maintaining that momentum for as long as possible, as well as hoping that the injury issues are not too severe.
