Three Newcastle United figures feature in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week after the 3-0 win away to Norwich.

At the start of the season, Toon players could barely get close to Shearer’s TOTW. Now it’s becoming a regular occurrence.

The Magpies made it four wins on the bounce at the weekend, hammering a deflated Canaries side 3-0 at Carrow Road. Newcastle were dominant, and moved into the top half to further solidify the incredible job Eddie Howe has done.

The turnaround has been remarkable, and Howe is rightly receiving plaudits for the work he’s done. He was named as manager in Shearer’s TOTW that also includes two Toon players.

Alan Shearer names Brazilian boys in his team of the week

It’s no surprise that Shearer has named Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in his team of the week. They were the stars of the show on Saturday.

Joelinton netted his first ever brace in the Premier League, while Bruno continued his ridiculous start to life in a Toon shirt. He didn’t arrive as a goalscoring midfielder, but he’s already found the net four times for the Magpies.

Shearer was certainly impressed with the 24-year-old. He wrote: “He is proving to be a wonderful signing for Newcastle and produced another very clever, well-taken goal.”

It certainly was clever from Bruno. It was also a thing of beauty. He showed great anticipation, reading Tim Krul’s pass into Kenny McLean. From there the Brazil international embarrassed Krul, scooping the ball over the former Newcastle goalkeeper to put the game beyond doubt.

It led to wild scenes in the away end, as Bruno and Joelinton celebrated with a Brazil flag and a magic hat.

Shearer also praised Joelinton, describing his performance as ‘brilliant‘. He kicked off proceedings with a thunderous effort before bagging a second just six minutes later.

The boys from Brazil dazzled in Norwich, and have been recognised for their exceptional performances by a Toon legend.
