Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has been spotted struggling with the heat during England’s training camp out in Qatar.

Having recently arrived in Doha ahead of the Three Lions’ opening World Cup fixture against Iran on Monday, the squad have been pictured battling the Middle Eastern climate.

England’s official Twitter account shared a video of members of the squad trying to cool-down, in-between phases of play.

Wilson seemed in good spirits as he stood in front of a fan blasting out cold air, joking around with the team’s cameraman.

Saying this, the way he hobbled back to the pitch illustrated the exhaustion being endured by his body – so who knows whether he’s truly coping or not.

Wilson struggles with the heat in Qatar

With the World Cup being played out in the Middle East, the England squad were always going to struggle with the temperature.

On Tyneside, Wilson has become used to the cold nights – so this is sure to be a shock to the system.

Following the rare snippets of training, Newcastle fans will be hoping to see the 30-year-old in action over the coming weeks.

As a last-minute addition to Gareth Southgate’s squad, it remains to be seen whether the Magpies man will get any time on the pitch at all.

However, going off current form, he is more than deserving to do so. In 11 Premier League games this season, Wilson has bagged six goals and two assists. The attacker has looked clinical in front of goal, and his darting runs in-behind back-lines have shown the threats he can cause to teams’ defences.

If it wasn’t for Miguel Almiron, the Toon number nine would surely have many more goals to his name, as the Paraguayan has been getting on the end of the majority of chances created recently.

With the incredible heat out in Doha, hopefully Wilson can adjust to the climate. He really needs to impress Southgate out in training if he has any chance of selection.
