Newcastle target Andrey Santos congratulates World Cup bound Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is officially going to the World Cup.

The 24-year-old was named in Tite’s 26-man Brazil squad on Monday afternoon, and will be going to Qatar alongside the likes of Neymar, Marquinhos and Vinicius Junior.

It’s mad to see a Newcastle United player going to the World Cup with Brazil, and Bruno’s nation will arrive at the tournament as one of the favourites to win the whole thing.

There were emotional scenes inside the Guimaraes household when the news broke, with the midfielder set to represent his country at his first ever major tournament.

It will be a huge honour for Bruno, and it will be great for Newcastle fans to watch him play during the Premier League break. However, he will not be joined by Joelinton, who sadly wasn’t selected by Tite. But at least that means he will be fresh and ready to go when domestic football resumes in December.

After the announcement, Bruno took to social media to express his delight. And he received a reply from a man who could soon be his teammate at St James’ Park.

Andrey Santos congratulates Bruno

Following the news, Bruno posted a video on Instagram his official Instagram account.

It included the caption: “Childhood dream come true!! The glory belongs to God!!!! world cup mission.”

The Newcastle star was met with floods of messages. Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Jacob Murphy all congratulated their teammate on being selected for the World Cup.

And Bruno also received a reply from Andrey Santos, the 18-year-old midfielder who Newcastle are trying to sign.

He wrote: “Congratulations brother, you are a crack.”

Santos currently plays for Vasco Da Gama, but has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park. It has been claimed by 90min that Newcastle are confident they can agree a deal to bring him to Tyneside.

That is incredibly exciting, as he is a young man with a lot of talent. Juninho Pernambucano even thinks he can be better than he was, which is very encouraging.

Santos is a big fan of Bruno, and has previously tweeted about his admiration for him. Now he has congratulated him on going to the World Cup.

But will they soon be teammates in black and white? Fingers crossed, as Santos would be another excellent young addition to the Newcastle United squad.
