The atmosphere in the Newcastle United dressing room last night after the 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain was lively to say the least.
Following Newcastle United‘s humiliation of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, the Magpies had a host of players who could have scooped the Player of the Match prize.
Fabian Schar was rock solid at the back and a danger going forward . After missing a first half chance by a whisker, the Swiss international put the lid on the win with an outrageous curling effort in the 90th minute.
Miguel Almiron scooped the Player of the Match award
Bruno Guimaraes was on superb form, bossing the midfield with ease. Alexander Isak didn’t get on the scoresheet but did play the latter stages of the first-half with a blindfold on so that deserves a mention.
However it was £21million man Miguel Almiron who took home the UEFA Player of the Match trophy for his usual gut-busting energy.
Almiron opened the scoring for Newcastle after Gianluigi Donnarumma palmed away a fierce Isak shot, Miggy latched on to the ball and placed an inch-perfect curling shot under the Italian international ‘keeper.

At full time, Newcastle United’s official X account posted a video of the players returning to the dressing room catching a lovely little dance from Anthony Gordon once again, but it was the reception that Almiron got that set off the goosebumps.
As he walks through the door he is greeted by chants of “Miggy!” which were started off by Bruno Guimaraes before rippling around the room.
The post-match content put out by the club is absolutely magnificent. Seeing how much these wins mean to the players and how well they all get on helps the connection between the team and the fans.
