William Osula’s future at Newcastle United looks like one of the major talking points heading into the January transfer window.
The Danish striker has endured a very strange few months at Newcastle United after he was denied a deadline day move to Eintracht Frankfurt in September.
Osula has impressed when called upon this season, and it initially looked as if the club were going to keep him for the rest of the campaign at least.
Newcastle United should SELL Will Osula – change my mind! 💰
An ankle injury sustained in November, however, has ruled him out of any action since and reports suggest that Osula has agreed to join Frankfurt in January.
Now, reports from the German media sum up his state of limbo.
Newcastle United yet to sanction William Osula transfer exit
According to leading German outlet BILD, Frankfurt have indeed agreed personal terms with Osula.
The German club, however, are waiting for the green light from Newcastle. The report adds that can sometimes take a while, which will be a familiar feeling to Toon fans.
Owners PIF aren’t always the quickest to make decisions, after all.
Are Newcastle United missing Alexander Isak?
William Osula continues in limbo at Newcastle United
Osula is still injured for Newcastle, so doesn’t seem likely to feature any time soon anyway.
Only a few months after the club blocked his exit, he could be leaving. Even if he was fit, it seems unlikely he would play regularly now that Yoane Wissa has returned to full fitness.
If he does leave, it seems like a wasted few months in his career, which is ironic considering he’s played the best football of his time at Newcastle in the process.

Clarity is needed.
Osula wants to play regular football and Newcastle could do without this becoming a saga. A state of limbo achieves very little.
The January transfer window does not afford clubs much time. If they are going to sell Osula, it makes sense to do so early so they can look for a potential replacement.
With Wissa now fit, Newcastle surely can’t give him the minutes he wants.
