Nottingham Forest fans are not happy about Newcastle United’s offer for Anthony Elanga.
As it stands, the 23-year-old is not heading to St James’ Park. Newcastle offered £45million for Elanga, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side said no.
They do not want to sell Elanga, as the Magpies decide whether or not they will increase their offer. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Forest want more than £60million for Elanga, which means Eddie Howe’s side are currently nowhere near agreeing a deal for the Sweden international.
This is not the first time that Newcastle United have had a bid rejected for Elanga. He was a target in the summer of 2024, with Paul Mitchell scrambling on transfer deadline day to sign someone after the Marc Guehi debacle.
It was reported that Newcastle offered a deal worth £50million for Elanga, but it was rebuffed. It was simply too late in the window for Forest to sell.

Nottingham Forest fans’ furious reaction to Newcastle United’s Anthony Elanga offer
One year later and Newcastle’s opening offer for Elanga is actually less than that amount.
That has angered Nottingham Forest fans on X (formerly known as Twitter), who believe the bid is quite disrespectful given the season that Elanga has just had.
One fan wrote: “Puts to bed the rumours they offered 50m cash last summer. 45m wouldn’t even be the start of a conversation, derisory offer and hopefully price them out of any deal. Elanga is a key player for us and want to see him going nowhere unless clearly indicates he wants the move.”
A second supporter asked: “How have Newcastle looked at Elanga’s season and decided, yeah we’re gonna offer even less this time?”
“You mean to tell me that Newcastle have been gearing themselves up since the window opened only to offer us £45m for Elanga? Behave,” wrote this Nottingham Forest fan.
“Newcastle putting in a bid of about £5M more than they did last summer is very disrespectful to the season Elanga has had for Nottingham Forest,” noted another Forest supporter.
A fifth fan added: “£45m. I wonder how Newcastle fans would react if Liverpool or Arsenal offered £65m for Alexander Isak? Pay what we want or do one…”
Finally, this Forest fan commented: “Absolute jokers, especially after we rejected £50m for him last summer.”
What Newcastle United offered Nottingham Forest for Anthony Elanga in 2024
Newcastle’s first approach for Elanga came in June 2024, as they scrambled to comply with PSR. The Magpies wanted to sign the former Manchester United winger, with Elliot Anderson going the other way.
Forest turned their nose up at that suggestion. In the end, Newcastle signed Odysseas Vlachodimos for £20million as Anderson headed to the City Ground.
They then went back in for him on transfer deadline day. Newcastle discussed a £35million deal for Elanga, but that was not enough for Forest to accept.
Toon officials then went even higher, with Newcastle proposing a deal worth a potential £50million for Elanga. Again, Forest said no as it was too late in the window.
Given the value of that offer and how well Elanga did during the 2024/25 season, the Forest fans’ response to Newcastle’s latest offer is understandable.
