Newcastle United are hoping that rival interest in Odysseas Vlachodimos means they are not so reliant on Sevilla buying him this summer.
The club managed to kick the can somewhat down the road when they loaned Vlachodimos to the Spanish club for the 2025/26 season.

Other European clubs are interested in Vlachodimos
According to Spanish outlet Orgullo Biri, Sevilla have made it clear to the goalkeeper that they are not going to be paying the €10million (roughly £8.7million) Newcastle value Vlachodimos at.
The only way they could afford it is if a consortium led by Sergio Ramos takes over at the club.
The report adds that one of the reasons that Newcastle are sticking to such a valuation is that they have already received interest from other European clubs in the 31-year-old.

As such, they do not currently need to lower their demands just to allow Sevilla to afford to take him off their hands.
It’s hard not to feel somewhat sorry for Vlachodimos. Yes, he is presumably very well paid by Newcastle, but it’s clear that the club never wanted to sign him in the first place.
He has now established himself at a major club in Sevilla but it seems like his stay there will be a fleeting one.
Vlachodimos has impressed for Sevilla, despite a campaign in which they have conceded a league-high 50 goals.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. Panathinaikos have been linked with a move for Vlachodimos, and the Greek giants are now managed by former Toon manager Rafa Benitez.
Either way, a long-term future at Newcastle looks out of the question. Vlachodimos was a PSR-enforced signing and that is hardly his fault.
Hopefully, he can find a permanent home somewhere soon.
