Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Mirror have boldly claimed that the Magpies could make a loan move for the 71-cap Gabon international with a £20 million option to buy.

The claim comes after Aubameyang was recently stripped of the captaincy at Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta said the player had been involved in a disciplinary breach.
He has not featured for the Gunners since a five-minute cameo against Everton on December 6.
Some have wondered whether Aubameyang will play for Arsenal again. It is difficult to say as no one knows for sure what has gone on behind the scenes.
But, naturally, there has been heavy speculation he will be leaving this month. And it seems Newcastle may have an interest in taking him.

Alan Shearer recently gave his opinion about Aubameyang’s situation at the Emirates.
He said on Match of the Day (quoted by the Mirror): “It’s unacceptable for the second time. For it to happen once, not very good, but for it to happen again and for his manager to have to come out and criticise him the way he did and tell everyone again he’s had to leave him out for those reasons. It’s not good.”
The former Borussia Dortmund star is heading off to AFCON with Gabon.
It remains to be seen which club he’ll be returning to.
Newcastle need players they can count on, amid Aubameyang links
Some are demanding Newcastle’s new owners make a move for Aubameyang happen.
He is obviously a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, although his form over the past year or so has been patchy.
It would be interesting to see if Newcastle do try and bring him to St. James’ Park.

It would be risky. The player has now had a couple of disciplinary breaches at Arsenal, and there is an argument that Newcastle shouldn’t be going such near players.
Newcastle’s precarious position in the league means they probably need to avoid taking big risks.
However, there is undoubtedly potential for Aubameyang’s goals to keep Newcastle’s up, so it’s tricky.
