Newcastle United’s interest in signing Tino Livramento should accelerate now that a deal has been agreed with Southampton.

It has been reported that the Magpies have now agreed a fee with Southampton to sign the 20-year-old, more than a month after interest from Eddie Howe’s side was first rumoured.

The defender is going to cost Newcastle an initial £35million, which could eventually rise to £40million. With add-ons, that will make Livramento one of the Magpies’ most expensive signings ever.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the right-back has agreed personal terms over a move to St James’ Park, with a medical now scheduled to take place.

Now the Northern Echo believe they know when that medical is going to happen.

Tino Livramento set for Newcastle medical

According to the Northern Echo, Livramento’s medical is going to take place in the next 24 hours.

So with a fee agreed with Southampton and personal terms agreed with Livramento, it should not be long before this deal is finalised – providing he passes his medical. That should not be a problem, with the youngster now back to full fitness following his ACL injury.

If Newcastle can complete Livramento’s medical in the next 24 hours then you have to imagine that there is an outside chance of him being involved in this weekend’s friendlies. Newcastle play twice at St James’ Park, as they face Fiorentina on Saturday and Villarreal on Sunday.

Either of those games would be a great opportunity for the ‘very clever‘ player to get some minutes in a black and white shirt. The Sunday game seems more likely, although Howe might not want to alter the plans that he has already made for the two friendlies.

Regardless, everything appears to be in place for Livramento to officially become a Newcastle United player, and what an exciting signing he should prove to be in the years to come.
