One of Newcastle United’s key players now looks to be the most likely to be sold for a significant fee this summer.

Newcastle have been told time and time again that they are first going to have to sell somebody if they want to bring in any new faces in the next transfer window.

Out of their most valued assets, a report from GiveMeSport now claims that it is Bruno Guimaraes who is most likely to be the one sacrificed for Newcastle in the summer.

Newcastle told to lose one of three stars

Newcastle have long-term ambitions of being one of the most successful clubs in the world, but they can’t get to that point without having money to spend on some big names.

The Premier League’s financial rules is currently restricting a whole host of clubs who are now considering selling one of their best players this summer, and Newcastle certainly aren’t excluded from that group.

The Magpies couldn’t spend a penny on first-team players in the January window and now face selling one of their biggest stars in either Bruno or Alexander Isak to recoup some funds for the summer.

With how the rules work, selling the Brazilian midfielder for around £100m, which is what his release clause is rumoured to be, would open so many doors in terms of spending, but it’s a huge sacrifice to make considering his importance to the team.

Newcastle simply can’t lose ‘unbelievable’ player

Bruno was brought in just over two years ago now for around £40m and has been worth every single penny so far playing at a consistently high level and at times dragging this Newcastle side to victories.

Yes, selling him would open up so many opportunities for Newcastle in terms of some big name players they would be able to bring in, but they can’t replace Bruno’s connection with the supporters and the club.

There is a sense that it is going to happen anyway given they look like they’re going to fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, but actively moving him on would be a huge blow to the team no matter what the fee is.

Newcastle’s recruits would then be given the impossible job of finding the perfect midfield replacement, but nobody is going to fit in the same way the ‘unbelievable‘ star did when he joined from Lyon.
