Newcastle United look set to miss out on Boubacar Kamara.

The Magpies have been linked with the Frenchman in the last hours.

Apparently the club have offered €2.5 million/£2.1 million, with an option to buy for €15 million/£13 million.

The two clubs have been in contact about the proposed move.

Frustratingly for Toon fans, RMC Sport now report (live blog, 31/8, 20:44) that Kamara will turn down Newcastle’s offer.

The 21-year-old currently plays his football for a team in the Europa League.

It was perhaps always going to be difficult for Newcastle to convince him to join.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are also being linked with Kamara tonight.

David Ornstein has reported he is unlikely to head to Molineux.

A disastrous window

It really has been an awful window for Newcastle.

Joe Willock was brought in which was important, but that should have been done weeks ago.

Newcastle remain keen to sign Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City, but who knows if that will come to fruition.

It’s looking very much like Newcastle won’t be landing that defender they so badly needed.
