Tottenham set to accelerate plans to sign in-form Premier League star Newcastle United want

Newcastle United will surely look to strengthen on the right wing this summer.

Miguel Almiron, of course, left Newcastle United during the January transfer window and no replacement was brought in, with the club preferring to keep their powder dry in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Still, Newcastle believe they can spend this summer and a new option on the right is desperately needed. Jacob Murphy certainly doesn’t need to discarded but the lack of a new signing in that position during almost four years of PIF ownership is rather glaring at times.

With that berth proving something of a problem position for Howe’s team over the past few seasons, plenty of names have been linked.

One of those is Antoine Semenyo, although there could be a complication on that front.

Tottenham set to accelerate plans to sign Newcastle United transfer target Antoine Semenyo

Newcastle have been linked with Semenyo, who has proven one of the form players in the Premier League this season.

Indeed, the Bournemouth star has scored seven goals while registering four assists in 26 appearances this season as the Cherries look to beat Newcastle to a Champions League qualification spot.

According to Caught Offside, however, Tottenham are set to make an opening bid to sign the Ghana international.

They claim Spurs are ready to make an offer of around £33.5m to sign Semenyo, albeit surely the south coast club will be demanding more than that.

Interestingly, the report adds that Semenyo is ready to test himself with a big move away.

Antoine Semenyo compared to Newcastle star Jacob Murphy

Murphy has been in fine form for Newcastle this season but even his most ardent supporter would surely admit it would not be impossible to sign an upgrade this summer.

While not to do any disrespect to Murphy, Semenyo looks exactly that.

As is shown above, Semenyo beats the Newcastle star in almost every attacking metric outside of assists.

Semenyo is valued at £60million by the south coast club. If Newcastle want him, they’re going to have to spend big.
