Sandro Tonali is set to become Newcastle United’s next big money signing with the AC Milan star set to complete his move to Tyneside this week.
Newcastle and Milan reached an agreement towards the back end of last week for the 23-year-old defensive midfielder and are now in the final stages of getting the deal done.
Sandro Tonali is currently away with the Italy U21s which is slowing things down, but all signs point towards the deal being done.
Tonali allegedly burst into tears when the move was agreed
Newcastle fans are unsurprisingly delighted with the move, but a rumour has been circulating that Tonali was so upset that Milan had accepted an offer for him that he broke down in tears at the news.
Giuseppe Riso, Tonali’s agent issued a short but definitive answer when asked about it recently, with The Chronicle quoting him as saying: “No, absolutely not” when asked about the incident.

As The Chronicle goes on to state, that would definitely be something that his agent would say to deflect the situation, but Newcastle’s transfer policy is to only recruit players who are committed to the club.
Newcastle fans can watch Tonali in action this evening
It’s possible Tonali did shed a tear, after all he’d be leaving behind the club and the country he loves for a new challenge, there’s bound to be some emotions in that. However, the idea that he burst into tears because he is going to Newcastle is almost laughable.

The Italy U21 captain will be back in action in the Under 21 European Championship again today (Sunday) at 5pm and you can watch it on UEFA.tv by registering for a free account.
