Newcastle United have suffered a likely blow in the club’s reported pursuit of a transfer for Thomas Muller, as Sky Germany report his agent met with Bayern Munich chiefs on Friday.
Ludwig Kogl, the German maestro’s long-term representative, was at the Bundesliga side’s training ground for likely talks over his future. Muller will enter the final year of his current deal this summer, and talks are ramping up in a bid to find an agreement for an extension.
Der FCB also met Kogl two weeks ago to discuss the subject, with Muller eager to continue playing until 2025. Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has also made it clear that he wants the Allianz Arena icon to remain in Bavaria. So, a new deal running to 2025 is firmly in the pipelines.

Muller was at Bayern Munich’s Sabener Strasse training ground on Friday, as well, as Julian Nagelsmann’s side practiced. FCB visit Freiburg on Saturday, when the German could face another alleged Toon target in Nico Schlotterbeck, who is likewise out of contract in 2023.
Newcastle suffer Thomas Muller blow as agent spotted at Bayern Munich offices
Bayern Munich meeting Kogl to likely debate Muller’s new contract is a blow for Newcastle in the club’s pursuit of his transfer. Bild reporter Christian Falk reported late in the January window that club chiefs admire the German and want to bring him to the Premier League.

Muller failing to sign a new contract would offer Eddie Howe fresh hope of adding the 32-year-old to his ranks. But alas, it seems unlikely he will get the chance to work with Muller, who has scored 12 and created a staggering 22 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Of course, talks between Kogl and FCB over Muller – who ex-Germany coach Joachim Low calls a ‘natural talent’ – could collapse. But any hopes Howe has for Muller’s transfer may be better spent elsewhere, given all indications point to the Bayern star staying in Munich.
