Newcastle have a habit of signing former Sunderland fullbacks.

We’ve currently got DeAndre Yedlin and Javi Manquillo, but could Tottenham’s Danny Rose join them?

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle could make a loan move for the Spurs defender, who has had a falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.

It isn’t the first time Newcastle have been linked with Rose. He was reportedly a target in the summer, but the Magpies instead signed Jetro Willems on loan.

While most players prefer the bright lights of London, Newcastle’s location might actually help them in this instance.

Rose enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Sunderland in the 2012/13 season.  On top of that, the Doncaster-born man rose through the ranks at Leeds and spoke of his desire to return to the north of England in 2017.

After injuries to Willems and Paul Dummett, Newcastle desperately need to sign another left-back. And Rose ticks a lot of boxes. He’s attacking enough to suit out wing-back system, and his experience at the highest level would serve him well.

This seems like a case of ‘watch this space’. But in the meantime, fans have made it very clear that they’d welcome Rose to St James’ Park with open arms.
