Reported Newcastle United target Todd Cantwell is officially a league champion following the conclusion of the latest round of Championship fixtures.
Norwich City sealed their promotion back to the Premier League recently, and will now be heading back to the top-flight as champions.
The Canaries, beat Reading 4-1 at Carrow Road on Saturday thanks to two goals from Kieran Dowell, one from Xavier Quintilla Guasch and one from Teemu Pukki.
Cantwell was in fine fettle for the hosts, and made the assist for Dowell’s second goal.
He also drew the foul which resulted in Quintilla scoring from a free-kick.
The midfielder created four chances in total in the game.
It was certainly an encouraging performance if Newcastle representatives happened to be watching.
It was claimed back in March by Eurosport that the Magpies may look to swoop for the Englishman this summer.
Following the end of English football’s social media boycott, Cantwell has today taken to Instagram following Norwich’s feat of becoming champions this weekend, writing: “WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.
“We did it again, I thank you and hope we can stop online abuse and racial abuse together, it has to stop.”
Plenty of fans have congratulated Cantwell, and there was also a comment from ex-teammate, and potential future teammate at Newcastle, Jamal Lewis, who wrote: “Playerrr.”
