The other day, Newcastle United were linked with a move for former Watford striker Odion Ighalo.

TeamTalk made the claim, stating that the Magpies are interested in signing him January, but face competition from West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Crystal Palace and the Hornets.

In the latest edition of this unlikely transfer saga, the striker has admitted that he does have offers to return to the Premier League.

“There are always speculations about me, and truly I have offers from the Premier League, but I also have a two-year contract with Shanghai and am happy here,” Ighalo told Brilla.

“The Premier League is the best in the World and of course I would love to go back, with Watford or any other team it could happen, but I have a contract with Shanghai and we’ll see how it goes.”

So if he is to be believed, Ighalo could be back in the Premier League in January. But hopefully, we aren’t one of the teams who have made him an offer.

In his first Premier League season, Ighalo was sensational. He scored 15 times for the Hornets, including three against the Magpies.

The Nigerian has been in China since 2017 and hardly seems like the man to fix our goalscoring woes. Ighalo is 30 now, and if you cast your mind back to his time at Watford, he quickly fell off the goal trail after a fast start.

We might see Ighalo back in the Premier League soon, but I pray it’s not in the black and white of Newcastle.
