Newcastle have been woeful offensively this season.
In all competitions, Steve Bruce’s side have scored a grand total of 33 goals. Jonjo Shelvey is our top scorer with five.
So it’s no surprise to see us being linked with attackers.
The latest link is a 19-year-old striker who puts Newcastle’s entire side to shame. According to 90min.com, the Magpies are keeping tabs on AZ’s Myron Boadu.
The teenager is enjoying a sensational season, and his numbers are quite incredible.
In all competitions, Boadu has been involved in 32 goals.
That’s one less than the entire Newcastle United squad this season. One single player has been involved in one less goal than an entire football club. A football club who has played four games against League One opposition.
He’s found the net 19 times in the Eredivisie and Europa League, while adding 13 assists for good measure.
Boadu looks like a sensational player so it’s certainly a good thing if Newcastle really are keeping tabs on him.
However, comparing the stats is more of a sad indictment of how we’ve been this season, rather than how well Boadu has played.
If we do manage to avoid a relegation battle and survive in the Premier League, big changes need to be made going into next season.
We need a consistent source of goals. Something we haven’t had since…oh wait we had it last season with Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez who both left.
