Newcastle United may struggle to land Fikayo Tomori on loan from Chelsea.
The Sun report that the Blues are now opposed to letting the English defender leave the club this month, after Andreas Christensen suffered a knee injury against Aston Villa on December 28.
The Denmark international suffered the issue against Aston Villa and the club fear he could be sidelined for several weeks.
It means Tomori, 23, may now not be permitted to leave Stamford Bridge during the current transfer window.
His lack of minutes had led to strong speculation that Frank Lampard would be willing to let him go on a temporary basis.
Newcastle had been linked with a loan move for the former Derby County loan star, but Steve Bruce may now have to turn his attentions elsewhere if the report is to be believed.
No Tomori move would be a shame
It would be a real shame for the Magpies if Chelsea weren’t now willing to sanction a move for Tomori.
The star has brilliant potential and just hasn’t had a look in at Chelsea this season.
Even in the absence of Christensen he still might not play that much, but it’s perhaps understandable Chelsea wouldn’t want to take a risk by allowing him to depart.
