Newcastle United fans are hoping for a productive summer, and names are already being linked with St. James’ Park.

The main clamour surrounds Joe Willock of course.

The midfielder enjoyed a tremendous loan spell, but has now headed back to Arsenal where discussions will take place about his future.

Defensive reinforcements are on the agenda for Newcastle, and The Athletic have reported today that Ozan Kabak could be bound for the Eorth East.

Kabak spent the second half of 2020/21 on loan at Liverpool, but the Reds are reportedly not going to trigger their option to buy.

His club Schalke could now offer him to Newcastle, but a deal could be complicated.

Apparently, the German side value their man at £18 million. The Athletic say this could make a move a ‘non-starter’.

Kabak enjoyed a string of decent games for the Reds following a shaky start, but he lost his place in the starting XI towards the end with Jurgen Klopp preferring Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams.

Newcastle can surely negotiate down from £18 million

£18 million seems steep, considering Schalke have just been relegated from the Bundesliga.

Surely Newcastle have got to try and negotiate that figure down, although many fans won’t hold their breath.

It’s important that an attempt is made though because money is once again said to be tight for Newcastle this summer.
