Belgian side Oostende have reportedly triggered their option to buy clause on Jack Hendry, but will sell the defender straight away in a possible development of interest to Newcastle United.
Celtic player Hendry enjoyed a fine campaign on loan, making 30 appearances for the club in total.
The star has been so good that Oostende have reportedly (90min) jumped at the chance to trigger their option to buy, which is said to be just under £2 million.
But Oostende don’t intend to keep Hendry as one of their own.
Apparently they see this as a chance to make a quick profit.
They have supposedly agreed to sell Hendry to the highest bidder this summer.
They anticipate receiving around £10 million for the centre-half.
90min say Newcastle have been scouting the player in recent months, and it may be that they see this as an opportunity.
Newcastle to swoop?
Hendry has definitely made big improvements over in Belgium.
He was named the best foreign player in the Belgian league, and also secured his place in Scotland’s Euro 2020 squad.
Newcastle look set to bid farewell to Federico Fernandez, whose contract is expiring.
And it’s also been all quiet on the Fabian Schar front so far.
Furthermore, it was reported recently that Florian Lejeune could be sold by the Magpies.
