He has scored 19 league goals so far, which has caught the eye of multiple Premier League clubs.
One of them is Newcastle. And according to TeamTalk, the Magpies want Armstrong back regardless of what division they are in next season.
The threat of relegation loomed larger over the weekend after a humiliating defeat to Brighton.
If Newcastle do go down, Armstrong would be an excellent acquisition. Although a deal might be more difficult due to top flight clubs wanting his signature.
If we stay up, Armstrong would still be a great signing. He offers something different up front to what we have, and could be Dwight Gayle’s replacement in the squad.
TeamTalk claim Blackburn want £16million for the 24-year-old. That fee would exclude Newcastle’s 40% sell on clause, giving the Magpies an advantage.
Should Armstrong go to Newcastle for £16million, they would get the full figure. If he went elsewhere, Newcastle would pocket 40%.
A deal for Newcastle makes sense for all parties, so fingers crossed this comes to fruition.
Armstrong deserves another chance at Newcastle, and hopefully that can be in the Premier League.
