Report: Newcastle United target Andrey Santos has £43m release clause, Bruno Guimaraes intermediary involved

Newcastle United know the fee it will take to acquire young Brazilian talent Andrey Santos, according to reports in Brazil. Those reports also suggest a man who helped bring Bruno Guimaraes to Tyneside is also involved in the deal.

TNT Sport reported earlier this week that the Magpies made contact with Santos’s club, Vasco da Gama, about a move. However, the teenager went on to commit his immediate future to the Rio-based club until 2027.

However, Brazilian news outlet Terra is reporting that the 18-year-old’s new contract contains a $50 million (£43 million) release clause. The same report suggests Newcastle United’s previous offer for the player was in the region of $35 million (£30.2 million) in one installment.

Perhaps most interesting for Newcastle United fans is the man Terra suggest is acting as the intermediary on the deal – Giuliano Bertolucci.

Bertolucci was publicly thanked, along with super agent Kia Joorabchian, by Newcastle talisman Bruno Guimaraes’ agent Alexis Malavolta in January for helping facilitate the Selecao international’s transfer from Lyon – as reported in the Chronicle.

Andrey Santos is known to be a fan of Bruno’s, even tweeting his appreciation of his countryman earlier this year.

Jigsaw pieces exist for Andrey Santos to join Newcastle United

The renewal of the talented midfielder’s contract with Vasco would, at first glance, seemingly appear a major stumbling block for Newcastle United’s apparent interest in his services.

However, the right pieces seem to be laid out on the table to get this deal done in the future. Newcastle have the financial clout to match the £43m release clause, the intermediary reportedly involved has a track record of bringing Brazilian talent to St James’ Park and the player himself would no doubt love to link up with a player he idolises – as well as another compatriot in Joelinton.

The transfer window has only just closed but Newcastle United fans should certainly keep an eye on developments regarding this Brazilian youth international.
