Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly a target for Newcastle United.
That’s according to the Telegraph, who state that the new Toon owners are keen admirers of the England international.
They add that Calvert-Lewin will likely be a target ‘even with a potential change in technical staff’. There’s been one big change today, with Steve Bruce leaving the club.
The 60-year-old has been relieved of his duties, with the new Newcastle owners now focussing their attentions on finding his replacement.

Eventually they will be able to seriously think about signings, and Calvert-Lewin would certainly be a wonderful addition.
The 24-year-old has played 11 times for England, scoring four times. He was also part of the Three Lions squad that reached the final of Euro 2020.
Calvert-Lewin would add serious competition to Newcastle’s attack
At the moment, Callum Wilson is Newcastle’s only real goal threat. Dwight Gayle often appears on the bench, but is far from adequate backup to a forward who struggles so much with injuries.

Newcastle are very reliant on Wilson, who has already scored three times this season since being given the number nine shirt.
He arrived in the summer of 2020 for £20million, and proved his worth with 12 goals in all competitions last season.
That was a tally that Calvert-Lewin eclipsed, finding the net 21 times in league and cup. The Everton striker also has three goals this season as well.
It would take a lot of money to bring Calvert-Lewin to St James’ Park, and the Telegraph claim that the Magpies could face competition from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
But if Newcastle could sign the striker, it would be a huge statement of intent.

Wilson is great, but he needs competition. Calvert-Lewin would certainly add that. And considering his age, he could be the long-term replacement for Newcastle’s current number nine.
Calvert-Lewin has improved a lot in recent years. He can hold it up, he’s strong in the air and runs the channels. He does the dirty work as well as scoring goals.
With Newcastle desperately in need of extra competition in attack, bringing in Calvert-Lewin would be a dream signing.
