According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle have spoken to Theo Walcott’s intermediaries about a potential loan deal.

The Everton man – who was signed for £20 million by Sam Allardyce – is also linked with Crystal Palace, Southampton, West Ham and Fulham in TEAMtalk’s report.

Walcott hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season under Carlo Ancelotti, as the Toffees sit joint-top after winning their first three games.

The ex-Real Madrid boss has told the England international that he can move on, seeing as he has the likes of Richarlison and James Rodriguez to deploy on the flanks, and Bernard, Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean in reserve.

The 31-year-old has only scored 11 times in 84 appearances for the Toffees, but there is no denying that he used to be some player.

Arsene Wenger once described the Southampton academy graduate as clinical after he scored two goals on his UEFA Champions League debut. In total, Walcott scored 108 goals for the Gunners.

Sky Sports quote the Frenchman as saying: ‘Theo’s in good form. I wanted to give him a start. He played well. He’s calm in front of goal. We know he’s clinical and when he gets inside this position, he’s composed.’

However, we’re not sure he’s what Steve Bruce needs right now.

Even Miguel Almiron, who has one goal and three assists this season, is struggling to start – the Paraguayan has made Bruce’s Premier League starting XI just once so far this season.

In that respect, signing Walcott – who Spotrac state earns £100,000-a-week at Goodison Park – would feel unnecessary.
