Newcastle United appear unlikely to be signing Moises Caicedo, with Brighton reportedly primed to land the teenager midfielder.
Sky Sports have reported the Ecuador international is being targeted by the Seagulls, with Manchester United having decided against a move.
Caicedo made a real impression in 2020, with the box-to-box starlet putting in a string of fine displays for Independiente del Valle.

He also became his country’s youngest-ever player and scorer, and has since accrued four caps.
Caicedo, who idolies N’Golo Kante (Sky), was said to be on the radar of Newcastle (Daily Mail, December 2020), but it appears the Magpies will not be landing the South American talent.
Brighton have held talks with Caicedo, and are described by The Guardian as ‘strong contenders’ for the 19-year-old.
It could be that Graham Potter sees him as a long-term replacement for Yves Bissouma, who has been linked with an exit from the Amex Stadium this month.
Caicedo could be a Newcastle regret
It seems Caicedo is bound for the south coast, and one can’t help but feel this is a real missed opportunity for Newcastle.

The Magpies really need someone to reinvigorate the engine room, and Caicedo, inexperienced he may be right now, has amazing potential.
His energy and dynamism would be brilliant for Newcastle, who could regret not making a better fight of things.
